This recording takes us to the scenic meadow landscape of the Hessian region at 950 meters above sea level, in the Rhön Nature Park, one of the most popular destinations. The area is particularly favored for its ideal peak location for gliding. Here, the gliding center is home to one of the oldest glider schools in the world. The recording features the sounds of motorized planes as they loop over the stunning Rhön landscape. Located next to the famous Glider Monument—a bronze eagle—the area is surrounded by vast, flat meadows that serve as a home to meadow pipits. Their distinctive flight song is clearly heard in the audio recording.
